Formed in 2017 The Foreign Affairs Trio is an instrumental jazz trio that explores world music with an improvisational approach. Their sound integrates elements of world music, jazz and rock by expressing political and cultural messages from their home country of Canada and around the world.
Their debut EP "From Nunavut To Usuahia" captures a variety of moods and styles. From the title track "From Nunavut To Usuahia"; a Chacarera inspired ballad that connects musical influences from the furthest regions of southern Argentina to the most northern points of Canada. To the dark, violent, and politically charged "Kanesatake", which expresses the conflict and turmoil of the 1990 Oka crisis between Mohawk Protesters and the Canadian Military. This EP covers many soundscapes that will appeal to fans of expressive instrumental music.
